Our Founder & Director, Joan Izzo

Joan Izzo is a professional dancer, choreographer, and dance instructor, as well as a trained and certified K-12 teacher. Joan has studied with renowned dancers such as Martha Graham, Phil Black, Jose Limon, Charles Weidman, and Twyla Tharpe. After training hundreds of promising dancers in studios throughout Northern Virginia, she opened the doors to her own studio, The Joan Izzo Academy of Dance, in 2001.

Joan Izzo is the creator of the acclaimed dance curriculum, "Oceans of Motion."
